Seeding Gift Culture (Oregon)

A four-day intensive seminar/initiation into the spirit and the practice of gift economics, at the personal, community, and planetary level.

We are holding it for the first time from September 16-20 in Ashland, Oregon. It is more than a seminar, it is an experiential intensive initiation into the spirit of the Gift, to crystalize it in those ready to bring it to themselves and their communities. I am cocreating the event with Bill Kauth and two other collaborators. I am holding nothing back -- all of the conceptual elements of The Ascent of Humanity are coming together in it, including lots of material that I've never written down. I know that lots of new spontaneous material will come through too, invited by the gathering of kindred spirits. The participants are dynamic, active, creative people on the cutting edge of the revolution in human beingness called forth by these changing times.

Gift Community is what we have been waiting for, preparing for and now, in these times, actually needing. We are awakening to our need for each other, not just on a physical level, but on a heretofore unknown spiritual level. It is the transition from "All I need is within me" to "I need you!" -- yet this is experienced not as a decrease in freedom, but an expansion. It is a journey to a depth of intimacy on the community level that we can barely imagine today, though we have long yearned for it.

As we transcend our social-cultural individuation, a new and ancient form of community is evolving. In a Gift-Community, everyone is fully capable of giving and receiving. We orient toward "What can I give" in any situation, even as we open to fully and fearlessly receive. Then, a miracle happens: something greater than any of us creates itself through our community, drawing on our gifts and gifting and expanding us in return. We easily and naturally “live the give-away” because that is who we have become. We are limiting participation in this event to 20-30 people, and are being very careful to choose people who will make a good fit into the whole. Also, on the weekends of October 16 and October 23rd, I will be speaking in Los Angeles, at various evening and all-day events. It won't be the same 4-day intensive format, but I hope that the same spirit will be present to electrify and launch the people who gather.
